 S.H.O.P. - Self-Help Opportunity Program
"Matching need with opportunities for life improvement"

This initiative is meant to organize a grassroots movement of providing young  people of Boston with an opportunity to get job-related training that will ultimately result in sustainable employment.

The 12th century philosopher Maimonides wrote about eight degrees in the duty of charity. In 1826 an explication of the eighth degree was published in a journal called “The Religious Intelligencer”. Boldface has been added to excerpts:

Lastly, the eighth and the most meritorious of all, is to anticipate charity by preventing poverty, namely, to assist the reduced brother, either by a considerable gift or loan of money, or by teaching him a trade, or by putting him in the way of business, so that he may earn an honest livelihood and not be forced to the dreadful alternative of holding up his hand for charity.

S.H.O.P plans to provide training so that you can obtain certification for the following:
–Information Technology Career Training
–Commercial Driving License (CDL - A and B)
–Automotive Repair Technician
